Lars Spuybroek is principal of NOX, an architecture office in Rotterdam. Since the early nineties he has been involved in the researching the relationship between architecture and media, often more specifically between architecture and computing. He was editor-publisher of one of the first magazines in a book format (NOX, Forum), made video (Soft City) and interactive electronic artworks (Soft Site, edit Spline, deep Surface), but since the last five years focussing more on architecture (HtwoOexpo, V2_lab, wetGRID, D-tower, Son-O-house). His work has won several prizes and was exhibited all over the world, among them a presentation at the Venice Biennale, 2000. At the moment his office is working on projects like the interactive tower for the Dutch city of Doetinchem, "a house where sounds live" (Son-O-house), an interactive office building in Stratford-upon-Avon, England (Soft Office), and a combination building in Lille, France. Lars Spuybroek has lectured all of the world and has taught at several universities in Holland and is a regular visiting professor at Columbia New York, and starts a full professorship at the university of Kassel in 2002. He is also working on a book, the first NOX, for Thames and Hudson to be published end of 2002.
