VIVID Design Rotterdam presents:

Hella Jongerius My Soft Office

November 18th 2001 - January 13th 2002

Hella Jongerius has created the concept of
'My Soft Office' for the exhibition Worksperes in the Museum of Modern Art [MOMA], earlier this year in New York. 'My Soft Office' explores the workplace of the future and the role of designers to develop effective solutions for the changing demands of working conditions.

For the first time in Europe these items can now be seen at VIVID.

The exhibition at VIVID however, will be unique:

To demonstrate the concept of the 'My Soft Office' Hella Jongerius will relocate her entire office to the exhibition space of VIVID Design in Rotterdam!
JongeriusLab will be at VIVID for a period of eight weeks, giving 'Hella Jongerius, My Soft Office' a very literal meaning . The combination of person, practice and products will stage an unforgettable experience.

We are spending a lot of money and effort to decorate our houses. However, modern reality does not allow us to enjoy all this domestic pleasure and comfort: we spend more and more time in offices. The average workplace is still dominated by default, dull and gray furniture and objects. 'My Soft Office' by Hella Jongerius is exploring the possibilities of design to enhance our future working environments. An example is a keyboard with an inbuilt snack plate. And why isn't it possible to work decently in bed? The result is Bed in Business: a double bed that also functions as a desk. Monitors are fixed at the end, speakers, keyboard and mouse are placed inside the pillows.

Capital4
For the program of Rotterdam Cultural Capital of Europe 2001 VIVID Design presents 4 solo exhibitions and a summer-show of the Rotterdam based designers Ton Haas, Richard Hutten, Lars Spuybroek and Hella Jongerius. Rotterdam has a international reputation for its good designers and architectural offices. VIVID wants to emphasize this with 4 solo-exhibitions. All four designers are located in Rotterdam but operate on a global scale. Worldwide, they're frequently asked for exhibitions, lectures, projects and master classes.
